Keshon Moore
Keshon Moore is a tireless worker, accomplished basketball player and person himself. Keshon or affectingly known as “Coach K” graduated from Curtis High School in Staten Island NY in 1994. He was a 3 year lettermen on the varsity basketball team that was S.I.H.S.L. champs in 1994.Keshon lead Curtis to 63-14 record and graduated as the all-time assist leader in school history. In 1997 “Coach K” was offered a full scholarship to Division II North Carolina Central (Now a Division I school). However Keshon only spent one full year at school.
During the spring of 1998 Keshon and three of his close friends were driving back to school in a rented van when they were pulled over by a state trooper on the New Jersey turnpike. The stop ended with 13 shots being fi red and the young men riddle with bullets. The incident became national news because the guys were stopped unjustly. The troopers were looking for drugs or guns but found only books, sneakers, clothes and a bible. The communities outraged led N.J. to admit to racial profi ling did exist within the NJ state police force. Since then Keshon and his friends have healed their wounds. Even though the young men never received the justice they wanted, they helped change how police across the country handle traffi c stops. Keshon has since coached with his uncle Ben Moore at Warick high school in Newport News, VA, Boo Williams AAU program and currently head assistant trainer for the Lehman College basketball program. He and his staff are dedicated to helping kids achieve their maximum potential. The passion Coach K puts into training and helping young people fulfill their basketball dreams stems from him not fulfi lling his. Keshon is also starting a non-profi t called World Wide Detailers, a car detailing company that trains and mentors young people on how to run a business by giving them the tools and a franchise to run their own. W.W.D. will build PORTABLE CARWASH UNITS to provide an outlet for young people to be productive while instilling values that will last a life time. These students then take the units (weekends, holidays, and summer) and clean cars for clients provided by WWD. “Too much is given, much is required “, are words Keshon lives by. He has dedicated his life towards shifting systems, changing perceptions and solving problems.
